We are going to have a series of public meetings in 2023 on the second Saturday of the month. In January we will meet on Saturday January 14th, 2023 at 2 PM. We will meet at the Ozark Regional Transit building located at 2423 E Robinson Rd., Springdale, AR 72764.
The agenda for the meeting is;
One, a name change to NWA GO. The reason for the name change is that we are expanding our social media presence and part of that is we start a YouTube Channel. When I entered our group’s name I kept coming up with Ozark Regional Transit Authority’s channel. We are a separate organization from ORTA. We need a new name that is catchy and easy to remember. So without a lot of hassle we will change to NWA GO. I will let our network know we have changed our name in public. For now our official name will be ORBTS. I will look into how to change our name with the Secretary of State.
Two, we will have a discussion of, and recommendations for the new Board of Directors for NWA GO. We had a Board for the last 2 years and 2 years is the duration for being a board member. So it’s time to let new people come in and lead. We have some people who will return and we need some new members.
Three, a new position on the Board will have to do with social activism – I don’t have a title yet. This is the group who will write Letters to the Editor and go to city and county meetings to ask for mass transit. The reason this is so important is we face an uphill effort to get what we want. Just because something is hard doesn’t mean we give up. Press On Regardless my friends.
One of the coolest TV shows of the last 25 years was Angel, who was a vampire detective. Once when he and his crew faced an impossible task Angel said, “When nothing you do matters, the only thing that matters is what you do.” Truer words, and we will take these words to heart.
I am reminded of a political philosopher I like who said, “Change doesn’t come from the top down. It comes from the bottom up.” And to do that?
Abe Lincoln said, “Nothing is more important than public sentiment.”
We have to change public sentiment. So we are taking our message to the streets, and to the sheets (of newspaper).
So please come out. Please get involved. We will try not to burden you with too much to do. If all of us pitch in, we will get a lot of work done. And our children will thank us for what we do today.
